Wood KayakWhile kayak fishing on Biscayne Bay a beautiful wood kayak was approaching from the south. The lines of the kayak were as smooth and polished. We stopped and talked in the bay near the flats for a while then we decided to tour around Biscayne Bay for the next few hours. The local kayaking public in Miami are as hospitable as always willing to show a "out of towner" a little history of the area. It makes for a great kayak day on the water. The fellow yak' er showed me kayak fishing spots where he said the snook hang around in the winter months and explained to me where to go on my later kayak touring adventures. He also shared information with me about the wood kayak kit called the Arctic Hawk and whom he had build it for him. The kayak plans were approximately 400 pages long so make sure you have a quality builder to assemble your kayak if your not going to do it yourself. The kayak only weights 48 pounds and cuts through the water like a knife through butter. Kayak accessories can be added to this wood kayak but many standard features were already installed like the 2 hatches and deck rigging. The Center of Gravity was low and helped when cutting through the chop. It was a great day on the water with new friends and future adventures!
